Canon Lucy Winkett's pilgrimage takes her, this week, in search of the not-so-wise-men, who apparently tipped off King Herod about the birth of Christ. She's surprised to find there's actually fairly strong evidence of a 'Star of Bethlehem' - actually, more probably a planet - Jupiter, the King of the Planets, obscured by the moon, in Aries, the constellation which represented Judea. Not enough to prove that the stars govern our fates, perhaps, but possibly an indication that St Matthew was referring to real celestial events in his story.
